I am in the process of rebuilding a 1971 Opel GT - from the ground up. It is basically a "frame off" restoration / rebuild except the body is integrated with the frame. The pictures will be posted in the photo gallery with updates on the BLUE 71 OPEL GTpage listed at the top. I will be adding text as I move along with the project. I still have more to do like replacing the door window seals, finish headlight wiring, and a few odds and ends.
The engine is an original Opel GT 1.9 upgraded to a 2.0 with a mild Isky performance cam and 2.0 big valve head from OGTS, sprint header, and more power! I'll use a 38DGAS weber carb and the regular 4 speed for now. Maybe swap in a 5 speed later in 2014.
Check out the photos in the Finally photo group and compare them to the Before Restoration group. There's been a lot of work done here.
This place is first rate in my book! Part quality and service and these guys have a lot of informaton. If you need Opel GT Parts, check parts and prices here first! http://www.opelgtsource.com/ I orderered more parts for both of the GT's so there will be more updates later.
I have had nothing but a bad experience in dealing with this group so stay away is my advice. Buy from OGTS and if not there go to the http://www.opelgt.com/ forum and ads and get from the folks there.
