I am in the process of rebuilding a 1971 Opel GT - from the ground up. It is basically a "frame off" restoration / rebuild except the body is integrated with the frame. The pictures will be posted in the photo gallery with updates on the BLUE 71 OPEL GT page listed at the top. I will be adding text as I move along with the project. It was painted on May 14th by Affordable Auto Painting in Raleigh, NC. I did not remove the hood, door handles, doors, or any glass, chrome window trim and seals. The old paint was sanded and then 2 base coats and a sealer shot on the old paint. They fixed up my basic body work and you can't tell where the old mirrors, antenna or rear bumperette holes were in the body.
I still have more to do like replacing the door window seals, adjusting the headlights, and a few odds and ends, and then new chrome on the old bumpers.
The engine is an original Opel GT 1.9 block, bored out and upgraded ith a mild Isky performance cam and big valve head from OGTS, sprint header, and a 38 DGAS weber carb and the 4 speed.
Check out the photos. I had to many so I had to just put in the latest ones showing the finished work. Enjoy.
